STAR
How will you love when the world is ending?
TIP:
Life has no meaning anymore, does it?
What if I could give it back to you?
Give you another life?
It shouldn’t have to be this hard
To find another star
But the sky falls apart
As you break my heart
Don’t you hit me when the world is ending
Don’t come at me when the tide is low
Don’t @ me when the world is burning
Just kiss me when the lights are low
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh
No
No
Say hello but I’m ready for a goodbye
Say you leave, then you stay, that’s such a good lie
C’est la vie, honesty becomes a pastime
Not a lie when the truth is only half-right
Not a feeling when it’s feeling like a good time
No beginning even though we started on time
No one’s winning when we lose each other this time
Hold me close keep me far just like a star: shine
Paradox is attraction with reverse signs
Cryptic tongue interactions will reveal mine
You don’t say it but you mean it like you’re all fine
Kiss me once fool me twice, it’s my fault right?
Answer why with your lips - give me insight
I got questions on questions but we’re tongue tied
Stargazing while the world just burns bright
Stargazing while the...

IMAGE DESCRIPTIONS: I am posing in front of a deep red backdrop. I’m wearing bracelets from @qlothing.qollective, a pearl necklace, and a custom “Pop Star” choker chain by @good.boy.designs. I’m clutching a large red cloth to my bare chest and the rest wraps around me so I’m wearing it similar to a Filipino malong. I’m standing on a large rug with patterns in deep reds, oranges, golds, blues, and browns.

IMAGE DESCRIPTIONS: I’m facing west with my head turned east, wearing a forest green coat with interior orange. My hands are in black leather biker gloves. Two walls behind me show graffiti in blue and orange. They meet to form a former. The ground is completely covered in wet, autumn leaves.

MY TRANSFORMATION STORY
Content: child sexual abuse, suicide, overdose, psychiatric meds, covid-19 pandemic
In 2013, I had a nervous breakdown. Through flashbacks and repressed memories, I found out I was a child sexual abuse survivor and realized I was a victim of other types of abuse as well. I isolated myself for years, aside from a long-term partner. I was horrible to myself and could not show up for people. My shadows were everywhere and I felt I had no reason to live.
But I paid attention to the few things that still brought me some kind of purpose. I wrote constantly and taught myself how to produce and record music. I only shared my art with the folks who remained in my life and Tumblr. Then Christmas Eve 2016, I was hospitalized for an overdose on my psychiatric meds and got released the following morning.
Next year, I continued to listen to the energies that called to me. Slowly, I ventured back into community spaces. Being invited to new opportunities, I learned that I had a talent for music production and sound engineering, and even singing and songwriting. I picked up poetry again too. I finally decided to drop my grad school program and pursue art full-time.
Since then, I’ve transformed. The way I live has significantly improved and my values are re-aligned. I am blessed to have had the guidance and support and love of so many. I also must claim that I myself committed to a lot of hard work to change my life. I now am beyond having a reason to live. I’m happy and fulfilled and continuing to build.
Now that I’m here, I realize I also have a talent for supporting other folks, situations, and groups through transformation. I already innately do this work, but I am honing the process in a way that integrates the “unprecedented” transformation occurring in our world right now! This is one of the ways I help us all experience liberation. It started as an internal magic. Now, I must offer that to others in this universal moment.
In order for all of us to be free, we deserve the love and support necessary to transform: I am with you as long as you commit to yourself.
I wrote “Star” in October 2019 by asking, “How will you love when the world is ending?” Soon after in March 2020, the first lockdown in Washington occurred and the covid-19 pandemic had more and more folks talking about “apocalypse.”
"STAR" IS ULTIMATELY ABOUT SELF-EMPOWERMENT:
